XENIA — Girls soccer district tournament brackets were released on Sunday and Greene County schools got two No. 1-seeds and two No. 2s in a strong year for local teams.
Bellbrook is D-III for the North portion of the district got a top-seed, as did Legacy Christian in D-V. Right behind them as twos are Carroll in D-III and Greeneview in D-V.
The Golden Eagles are ranked fifth in the state for D-III teams, according to MaxPrep’s rankings instituted this year. Right behind them is Carroll at sixth. LCA is ranked second in D-V and Greeneview is eighth.
LCA and Greeneview would meet in a potential regional semifinal matchup. The two played to a 3-3 draw in a regular season game. Bellbrook and Carroll would not play until a possible regional final.
Not far off from the others is Beavercreek in D-I getting a three-seed. Xenia got the four-seed in D-II and Fairborn is right behind them as the five-seed.
Three local schools will host regional semifinal games. Bellbrook gets a D-II game, Beavercreek hosts a D-III and Fairborn will host a D-V game. Beavercreek also will host the D-II regional final.
This is the first year of the OHSAA expanding girls soccer from three to five divisions. Individual rounds were renamed to remove the “sectional” designation, with the new names being the district opening round and quarterfinals.
All D-I and D-II begin with the district semifinal round, with D-III through D-V expanding out as needed.
