Xenia senior Gavin McManus (16) and sophomore Deaunte White (24) both entered their names into the Xenia school record book during Friday’s 30-8 win against Piqua.

XENIA — Two individual records were set during Xenia’s 30-8 win against Piqua on Friday.

Gavin McManus became the school’s career passing yardage leader and Deaunte White set the single season mark for touchdowns scored.

McManus completed all 18 of his passing attempts on Friday to throw for 215 yards in the contest. He ended the game at 5,808 career passing yards to pass the previous record by Danny Naylor from 2012-15 of 5,621 yards. Dating back to the first half of the Troy game McManus has currently completed 29 straight attempts which is the third highest total all-time in the OHSAA record book, one behind second and 10 from the record.

White had four touchdown runs against Piqua to give him 28 total touchdowns scored this season. The previous record was set by Trei’Shaun Sanders in 2022 with 25. Earlier this season White set single game school records for rushing yards and touchdowns scored during the week three win at Sidney.

“Kudos to both of those guys,” head coach Maurice Harden said. “They’ve worked really hard to get those opportunities.”

Xenia got off to a slow start by its own standards being set this season as the Buccaneers didn’t score a touchdown until the second quarter but still took a 16-0 lead into the break.

Piqua closed the gap in half with a touchdown on its opening possession of the second half, but Xenia immediately responded with two more of its own to comfortably improve to 8-0.

“Our defense played extremely well tonight,” Harden said. “They put us in a position to where offenseively we just neede to execute and be consistent and that just propelled us into the victory.”

White had 153 yards on 26 carries. Trimonde Henry caught seven passes for a season-high 139 yards which included a 61-yard reception.

Laithan Partee led the defense with 11 total tackles. Sean Leonard got the scoring started for Xenia on a short field goal in the first.

Xenia assured itself a spot to make the postseason with the victory.

Springfield 60, Beavercreek 8

First turnovers in the first half continually gave the Wildcats short field to work with on offense and they took advantage of each opportunity to lead 50-0 by halftime.

Calvin Svoboda ran in a 27-yard score to start the fourth quarter and avoid a second straight shutout. The Beavers will be on the road for the final two weeks of the season as they finish their push to make the playoffs.

Bellbrook 38, Monroe 10

Vincent Epifano had a career night for the Golden Eagles. He rushed for 272 yards on only 18 carries and scored two second half touchdowns to help put the game away and get Bellbrook its seventh straight win.

Tanner Stewart also ran for 105 yards and a score. Aiden Caswell had his second game of the season with multiple touchdown passes.

Bellbrook’s defense saw its run of 21 straight quarters of not allowing a touchdown to be scored against them end after Monroe broke through during the second quarter to make it a 14-7 game. A 67-yard touchdown pass to Noah Barrios restored the advantage and Bellbrook didn’t allow a point afterward.

Bellbrook clinched a berth into the playoff with the victory combined with other area results.

Chaminade Julienne 68, Carroll 0

CJ rushed for more than 500 yards and had nine different players have a carry going for better than 10 yards in the win.

It was the seventh straight week Carroll’s defense allowed more points than it did in the previous game.

Southeastern 31, Cedarville 14

A second half comeback attempt fell short for the Indians as the Trojans scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to keep Cedarville at bay.

Colt Coffey had 176 yards rushing and both touchdowns for Cedarville. Will Mossing was limited to just 51 yards passing on 3 of 8 completions. The Indians also had a season-high four turnovers lost.

Isaiah Christian made 17 tackles to go with a sack and two tackles for loss.

Greeneview 33, Madison Plains 0

The Rams steadily built its lead and improved to 8-0 this season. Greeneview also secured a berth into the postseason with the win.

In three games against OHC South Division opponents, Greeneview has outscored the opposition 93-0.
