Bellbrook girls win another SWBL golf title — Sports Digest: Sept. 23, 2024

ARCANUM —Bellbrook’s girls golf team won its third consecutive Southwestern Buckeye League championship on Thursday at Beechwood Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles shot 336 on the final day to secure the championship. Bellbrook also for the second straight season went undefeated in league dual matches.

Ainsley Gregory was medalist at the league tournament, shooting an 81 on Thursday to follow rounds of 78 and 76. Teammates Alexi Knight and Lainey Schleich tied for second together, and Alina Shroyer finished fifth. All four earned first-team SWBL honors.

Bellbrook heads to the Division I Sectional Tournament next, beginning at WGC in Xenia on Thursday. There will be three team and individual qualifiers from the 21 teams and four others individuals in the field.

Xenia finished eighth and Fairborn was ninth at the conference tournament.

Lucas Salazar led Xenia with an 82 and Fairborn’s Elijah Fry shot 96.

Six different players scored for Bellbrook including Carter Sorrell, Josiah Wolverton, Ellie Gule, Sean Markland, Logan Lucas and Jaden Warner.

Valley View 2, Fairborn 1

Ezra Gumbert scored Fairborn’s only goal. Adam Laamri had the assist.

Greeneview 3, West Jefferson 1

Goals by Cris Ajbal, Nick Hassid and Brayln Hudson propelled Greeneview to the league win.

Luke Kennedy and Hudson assisted on the goals.

Girls Soccer

Bellbrook 7, Edgewood 0

Bellbrook jumped back into its winning ways with ease after getting a hat trick by Mara Donnerberg.

Addison Bethel scored twice and Georgie Early created four assists.

Greeneview 8, West Jefferson 0

A hat trick by Mya Sinpson led Greeneview. Daylee Sandlin and Elyse Waggoner both scored twice.

Simpson and Waggoner both had two assists in the match.

Greenon 5, Legacy Christian 3

Claire Solomon had a hat trick, but Greenon outlasted the Knights in a matchup of two teams which had yet to lose.

LCA got eight saves by Autumn Allport.

LakaiyaJo Champaco had 18 digs and Lillee Walters added 10 for Fairborn.

The Rams got 13 kills and 17 digs by Aly Truman in the win.

Aubrey Atley also had 16 digs and Bailey Bloom had 32 assists.
