FAIRBORN — Fairborn City School District Superintendent Gene Lolli is retiring Dec. 31, the district announced Tuesday.

Assistant Superintendent Amy Gayheart has been tabbed as Lolli’s replacement, according to the release.

Lolli was also principal and business manager and has served in the district for 13 years. He has more than 45 years in the workforce.

“The richest blessing I have experienced in my career has been working in the Fairborn City School District,” he said. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the students, families, staff, administrative team and the Board of Education, past and present.”

The Fairborn Board of Education will meet at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at Fairborn High School. During the meeting, board members are expected to formally name Gayheart as superintendent. The district will not be holding a search to fill Lolli’s position, the release said.
