Fairborn City School’s celebrate opening day

FAIRBORN — Fairborn students had their first day this week, brimming with excitement about the new venue and classes.

“The first day went extremely well,” said Superintendent Gene Lolli. “Students were very, very excited and classes were going very well. Students seemed to get acclimated to the new environment.”

This is the second year Fairborn City Schools are implementing their phone lock system with Yondr cases, a change Lolli said they heard positive feedback about last year.

Like most years, there are some kinks to work out over the course of the semester. This year, the biggest issue has been traffic and a couple late busses as they try to navigate the new system.

“We had some issues, just what’s normal with some late busses,” said Lolli. “I think once everyone gets the hang of the traffic pattern it will get even better.”

Overall, the feedback from the first day of school has been overwhelmingly positive, according to Lolli. Students and staff are excited for the new year, and the new high school building is full of potential.

“We got a lot of great complements from staff members,” he said. “It was a very, very positive opening day.”
