FAIRBORN — Jill Wilson, chair of Premier Health and president and CEO of Otterbein SeniorLife, has been appointed to the Wright State University Board of Trustees as a national trustee.

Wilson was unanimously appointed to the Wright State board by the university’s trustees during their June 14 meeting.

Wilson will serve as Premier Health’s representative on Wright State’s Board of Trustees as part of the new 30-year affiliation agreement between Wright State and Premier Health.

The agreement formally establishes a primary academic affiliation between Wright State and Premier Health and includes all of Wright State’s colleges and academic programs and all of Premier Health’s sites of care.

“It’s a great privilege to represent Premier Health on the Wright State Board of Trustees,” Wilson said. “On behalf of the Premier Health Board of Trustees, I want to say how excited I am to continue to work with Wright State and the university’s trustees. I know our two organizations will do incredible things together.”

As non-voting ex officio members of the Wright State Board of Trustees, national trustees are valued for their additional capabilities and expertise to the board in support of Wright State.

The Board of Trustees also includes nine voting members and two student trustees who are appointed by the governor of Ohio.

Since joining Otterbein SeniorLife in 1997, Wilson has held various leadership positions, including chief financial officer, vice president of strategic planning and executive vice president. She was named the organization’s CEO in 2009.

A faith-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1912, Otterbein provides a variety of lifestyle environments, including independent living, wellness services, assisted living, long-stay and post-acute skilled nursing, memory support, home health, hospice, adult day care and a staffing agency.

Wilson has led significant growth through acquisition, start-ups, affiliations and expansion at Otterbein’s existing locations. The organization’s 3,000 employees serve more than 7,500 persons annually in 23 locations in Ohio and Indiana.

Wilson also continues Otterbein’s track record of innovation. Otterbein offers the largest retirement community in the Cincinnati-Dayton market and is a national leader in developing small house neighborhoods, which offer person-centered, skilled nursing homes that look, function and feel like a real home. She also led the formation of the Union Village Development Company, Inc., to oversee Union Village, a mixed-use, multi-generational town in Warren County founded on the principles of new urbanism that will be home to 12,000 residents.

Before joining Otterbein, Wilson spent her career as a CPA in ever-increasing roles of responsibility with certified public accounting firms.

Wilson is engaged with the community, serving on a number of professional and trade organizations.

She serves as chair of the Board of Trustees of Premier Health, one of the largest comprehensive health care systems in Southwest Ohio.

She also chairs the boards of the Caring Communities Insurance Company and the Green House Project. The Green House Project is a national organization that seeks to destigmatize aging by humanizing care for all people through non-institutional eldercare environments.

She is a past chair of the Ohio Board of Executives of Long-Term Services and Supports, which develops and enforces standards for nursing home administrators, and LeadingAge Ohio, the Ohio association of nonprofit senior living organizations. Wilson previously served on the Warren County Port Authority Board and the Warren County Area Progress Council.

Wilson was named to the 2016 list of Cincinnati Women of Influence by Venue Magazine, received the 2017 Everest Leaders and Legends Award, was honored as a 2018 Environments for Aging Champion, and was inducted into the 2023 Junior Achievement Butler and Warren County Business Hall of Fame.

Wilson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree in organizational development from Bowling Green State University. She resides in Maineville, Ohio, with her husband, Ohio State Sen. Steve Wilson.
