Skeletal remains likely human, Greene County sheriff says

Greene County News report

SPRING VALLEY TWP. — Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer believes the skeletal remains found Sunday afternoon were human, but he is waiting for official confirmation from the coroner.

That affirmation could come this afternoon after the coroner and officials from the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab in Dayton conclude an autopsy.

Mushroom hunters found the remains shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday off Elam Road in Spring Valley Township.

Fischer said there are no active or cold cases in the county, but he has been in contact with neighboring counties and agencies who may have some active missing person reports.
