XENIA — A Dayton man will spend 15 years in prison for two robberies he committed during an apparent crime spree throughout the Miami Valley this summer.

Bobby Groce, 36, was sentenced by Greene County Common Pleas Judge Michael Buckwalter on Monday after he pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery with specifications as a repeat violent offender and two counts of having weapons while under disability (having previously been convicted of a felony).

According to Fairborn and Beavercreek police information, Groce robbed a Dollar General store in Fairborn on June 25 and a Subway store in Beavercreek on June 27, using a gun during both robberies.

Groce was sentenced to 15 years each for both robberies, to be served concurrently. Additionally, Groce was ordered to pay about $800 in restitution for the Fairborn incident and about $325 for the Beavercreek incident.

According to media reports from early July, Groce surrendered to law enforcement following a standoff in Trotwood after deputies were reportedly looking for the man in connection with three other robberies. Groce was subsequently indicted on aggravated robbery and other charges in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for two robberies in Dayton and one at another Subway in Harrison Township. Cases for each of those three robberies are still open.

According to online court records, Groce was sentenced in 2007 for having weapons while under disability, in 2003 for three counts of aggravated robbery and in 2001 for felonious assault, all in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
