COLUMBUS — Two more Xenia Legacy Christian wrestlers placed among the best in Ohio, but this time one became a runner-up and the other is now a three-time champion.

During the Saturday, March 11 Championship wrestling session, Legacy Christian freshman Wyatt Riddle started off the Knights’ championship fireworks by placing second in the Division III 106-pound class, losing to Genoa Area’s Oscar Sanchez, the top seed in the bracket, in the final.

Moments later, LCA’s Tommy Hoskins earned his third consecutive state wrestling title with a come-from-behind decision over Sanchez’ brother, Julian, also of Genoa Area. Hoskins, who wrestled at Dayton Christian the previous two seasons at 113 pounds, claimed this win for the fledgling first-year Legacy Christian program at 120 pounds. Dayton Christian disbanded its wrestling program after last season, so Hoskins was able to transfer without sitting out a year.

Earlier in the day, LCA wrestler A.J. Warner placed fourth in the 126-pound weight class. Wagner had qualified to state the past two seasons while wrestling for Fairborn. The senior went out in style with a spot in the podium.

Also earlier on Saturday, Greeneview sophomore Devan Hendricks placed sixth at 106 pounds in his first trip to the state tournament.

Despite having three wrestlers on its entire team. Legacy Christian placed as high as fourth overall in the team standings in Division III. They were sixth with 59 points after Hoskins wrestled the Knights’ final state match.
