LEBANON — In a Division II girls high school basketball thriller, Bellbrook freshman guard Brooklynn Hall grabbed a loose ball and raced to the other end of the court to ensure that the No. 2 seeded Golden Eagles would escape Thursday’s Feb. 23 sectional title game with a hard-fought 35-34 win over No. 5-seed Wilmington.
Sports Editor John Bombatch was able to get video footage of Hall’s heroics, and the Bellbrook celebration afterward.
Wilmington (in the black jerseys with orange trim) was inbounding the ball, with 8.2 seconds left in the game and a chance to hit a game-winning shot. But as you’ll see, Bellbrook (white jerseys) had other ideas.
While the video is a little shaky (the Bellbrook fans were jumping in the stands), keep an eye on the left side of the video and watch for No. 4, Hall, as she comes up with the ball after a Wilmington collision.
Bellbrook will now play in the Division II district title game, Friday, March 3 in Mason against either New Carlisle Tecumseh or Trotwood-Madison. Tecumseh and Trotwood-Madison will play each other on Saturday, to determine who advances on to face the Golden Eagles.
