Beavercreek defeats Centerville
VANDALIA — In the third meeting between the Greater Western Ohio Conference National East Division rivals, No. 3 seeded Beavercreek handed No. 5 Centerville a 41-27 girls Division I sectional basketball tournament loss, Wednesday, Feb. 22 at Butler High School. The Beavers outscored Centerville 22-8 in the second half.
Keaira Youngblood led Beavercreek (16-8) with 16 points, while Carmen Williams and Cori Dilsavor scored seven each in the win. The Beavers will now face New Carlisle Tecumseh at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 in the D-I sectional final.
Carroll advances past Belmont
NEW CARLISLE — Division II top seed Carroll rolled out to a 22-0 lead after one quarter of play, and cruised to a 71-15 girls basketball win Wednesday Feb. 22 over Dayton Belmont. Fourteen Carroll Patriots scored in the contest, with Amanda Schroeder leading the way with 12. Morgan King scored nine points, Sydney Ingram added eight and Allie Stefanek scored seven.
Carroll (20-4) is in the D-II sectional final against Springfield Kenton Ridge at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Tecumseh High School.
Yellow Springs falls to Southeastern
BROOKVILLE — Yellow Springs, seeded No. 8 in the Division IV Brookville Bracket of the sectional girls basketball tournament, fell to No. 4 seed South Charleston Southeastern, 55-45, Wednesday Feb. 22 at Brookville High School. No individual statistics were reported from the semifinal game. The Bulldogs ended the 2016’17 season with a 13-11 overall record.
Bellbrook seeks JV tennis coach
BELLBROOK — Bellbrook High School is looking for a Junior Varsity Tennis Coach for the upcoming 2017 season.
Qualifications: Team Player, good communication skills, positive attitude and outlook, knowledge of the game of tennis, ability to lead and foster a positive environment for student-athletes, and flexible schedule.

WSU to honor Norman
FAIBORN — Paralympic gold and bronze medalist Grace Norman will be honored at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 prior to the Wright State men’s college basketball game at the Nutter Center. Tipoff for the men’s game against Valparaiso will be at 7:30 p.m.
Currently a freshman student-athlete at Cedarville University, Norman won the women’s triathlon gold medal, and the women’s bronze barely 36 hours later in the 400-meter run, at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She’ll be available to interact with fans at the game, pose for photos and will sign autographs at halftime.

JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Youth Softball and Baseball organization will hold registration opportunities for the upcoming 2017 season from Jan. 11 through Feb. 15 for all leagues. A new division, Ram-Ball, will be offered as a way to create interest in baseball and softball for youngsters ages 3 and 4. Late registration will run through March 3, but includes an additional late fee.
Costs are as follows: Ram-Ball (co-ed, ages 3-4) $35; T-Ball (co-ed ages 5-6) $75; 8U Coach Pitch (ages 7-8), 10U (ages 9-10), 12U (ages 11-12), and 15U (separate from OHSAA, season begins after the high school season ends) $75. Clodbusters meeting March 12
GREENE COUNTY — The Clodbuster Base Ball Club was formed 28 years ago to demonstrate and enjoy the early years of the great American game of base ball. The team will play the game according to the rules of 1860 and dress in “uniforms” that would be appropriate for a farm community club in Ohio in the early 1860s. Matches are scheduled with other “vintage” clubs from around the area during the summer, and often participate in festivals and tournaments. Players range in age from their mid-20s to their late-50s, with some scorers, umpires, and historical interpreters still active into their early 70s.

Shamrock 5K set
SPRINGFIELD — The Shamrock 5-Kilometer run, set for Saturday, March 11 at Buck Creek Reservoir, 1901 Buck Creek Lane in Springfield, is donating a portion of their entry fees to the family of Carly DeLong, a Catholic Central High School freshman whoh has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Beavercreek adult softball
BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department is currently accepting registrations for Summer Adult Softball for coed and men’s teams.
For fees and times contact the parks department. The league fees include team sanctioning, softballs, umpire fees, and awards. The season runs from April 17 to July 25 with all games played at Rotary Park. Lions Club taking signups
BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook Lions Club would like to announce registrations for the Summer Baseball, Softball and T-ball programs for children ages 6-15. Parents may register their children by visiting the Lion’s Club sports website at www.bellbrooklionssports.org. Parents who wish to register their children in person may do so at Stephen Bell Elementary from 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb, 25 or 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2.
The program will begin with practices in the month of April, with games beginning in May. Softball practice will begin in May, with games ending in mid July.
