Spud fans ready for Spring Valley Potato Festival

SPRING VALLEY — Potato fans can get their fill of spuds at the 37th annual Spring Valley Potato Festival this weekend, Oct. 4-5.“Potato soup, potato candy, potato cookies, sweet potato fries, potato pancakes, you know that kind of stuff,” said Judy Madden, listing off the types of food that can found at the festival. Madden is in charge of the festival’s publicity. “People just really like the food.”In addition to the food, attendees can experience a variety of potato-themed events, including the festival king and queen crowning, the “Tater-Trot” 5K run, children’s games, a kiddie tractor pull, a pet parade and a number of bands.


Bank robbery attempted in Xenia

XENIA — An attempted bank robbery which occurred in Xenia Tuesday afternoon could be connected to a series of other area robberies.Tuesday’s action began shortly after 1:25 p.m. at Security National Bank on N. Allison Ave. in Xenia.
