BELLBROOK 163, CARLISLE 192: The Golden Eagles (1-0) topped Carlisle (0-1) in a dual match, Monday at Jamaica Run Golf Course in Germantown. The top finisher was Carlisle’s Jake Glover who finished at 39. Bellbrook’s Chad Bacon finished in second tied at 39. Rounding out the top five were three Bellbrook athletes - Alyssa Burritt, 41; Miranda Greene, 41 and Matt Ratcliffe, 42. Bellbrook plays next at the Elk Invitational, 8 a.m. Thursday at the Yankee Trace Golf Course in Centerville.

Xenia to play in two trophy games


XENIA — The Buccaneers will compete in two trophy games in the upcoming fall football season. Opening night marks the return of the Backyard Battle, when Xenia visits Greater Western Ohio Conference rival Beavercreek at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Beavercreek High School.


The following week, the Bucs host Bellbrook in the Walter G. Sellers Memorial Game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at Cox Field. Sellers was the former International President of Kiwanis and former Xenia school board member who passed away.


The winning school will earn a trophy at the end of the game.


Make Plays Today Basketball Camp, Aug. 17


CENTERVILLE — Wade O’Connor will host a Make Plays Today youth basketball camp from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 17 at Spring Valley Academy, 1461 E. Spring Valley Road, in Centerville. The camp’s goal is to “impact lives with our Purpose, Passion, Potential and Platform in Life.” A suggested registration donation is $30 per child, maximum $50 per family. Hummingbirds Soccer offered


BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with Jump Start Sports, is offering Hummingbirds Soccer for children ages 3-6. The camp is scheduled for Mondays, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Sept. 8-Oct. 13 (ages 3-4), and 6:30-7:30 p.m. (ages 5-6) at Rotary Park. Fee for residents is $65; non-resident fee is $75.


Boys and girls will have fun and learn the basics of soccer: dribbling, passing, trapping, shooting and positioning. Each session consists of instruction in each aspect of the game, fun drills that are designed to teach skills, and low-key non-competitive games.

Introductory Lacrosse in September


BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Parks and Recreation in cooperation with Jump Start Sports is offering Introductory Lacrosse Camp for children in grades K-5. The camp is scheduled from 6-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 9-Oct. 14, at Rotary Park. Fee for residents is $65; non-resident fee is $75.


Experienced coaches, provided by Jump Start Sports, will lead the training on all the fundamentals, including: passing, catching, fielding ground balls, cradling, spacing, positioning and defense. Players will be divided by gender and age to play fun game situational scrimmages. Plastic sticks and soft balls will be provided.
