Women’s Day coming to AME

XENIA — United African Methodist Episcopal Church is holding its annual Women’s Day Programs Sunday, Sept. 20.

Minister Vanetta L. Bellows will deliver the message for the 11 a.m. worship service. Bellows is pursuing a Master’s of Divinity degree through the United Theological Seminary with a concentration in Pastoral Care.

The speaker for the 4 p.m. service is Sheila Raye Charles Steptoe of One Way Up Ministry. Steptoe is the daughter of legendary singer Ray Charles. An author and advocate for reducing rearrests she brings a message of hope, identification of resources for inmates re-entering society, and raises awareness of the importance of prison ministry and mentoring.

The theme for the Women’s Day Program is “Women of United: Shine for Jesus.” The Rev. Dr. John E. Freeman is the pastor and the public is invited to both services. For more information, contact Lillie Massie, program chairwoman, at 937-372-3366. The church is 286 East Church Street in Xenia.
