Devotional: The Capstone

0

“The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:22-24)

This is a familiar Scripture for the Christian. It is a description of the Messiah to come. Jesus was rejected and killed. This was the Lord God’s plan for all of humankind. It was and is a marvelous thing to contemplate. It is the supreme love of God in action. The resurrection sealed, like a capstone, the church of living stones through faith. This was all planned by the Lord from the beginning, to the Cross, to the Resurrection, to our faith. God, by His grace, made it so. Yes! We rejoice and are glad in it!

The act of God, through Jesus, is so wondrous. This verse confirms again God’s love of humankind. That never wavers. Never! We get ourselves into all kinds of messy situations but He still looks over us.

He still wants the best for us and ultimately wants us to be part of His kingdom forever. That, He has accomplished for us, and all who believe in the Savior of humankind, Jesus. Alleluia!

Heavenly Father, how marvelous to read in Your Hebrew Scriptures Your plan for all humankind. You have had it all worked out. You have brought it all to a conclusion in the Victory over death by Your Son, Jesus.

You have given us who trust Your Son, life eternal with You, Your Son, and Spirit. You have done this! You have done this! Alleluia! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
