DAYTON — The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) held elections for its Executive Officers at the March 6 meeting.


MVRPC’s Executive Officers for 2014/2015 are Chair Jan Vargo, Council Member - At Large - City of Huber Heights (Montgomery County); First Vice-Chair Carol Graff, Trustee - Beavercreek Township (Greene County); and Second Vice-Chair John O’Brien, Commissioner - Miami County Commission.


In addition, some new officials were added to the Executive Committee. Greene County officials who made the list are Robert Glaser Greene County Commission, Dan Kirkpatrick City of Fairborn, Chris Mucher Miami Township (Greene County), and Woodrow Stroud, Greene County Transit.


The 2014/2015 Executive Committee is also now comprised of the following representatives: John Beals City of Centerville, Michael Beamish City of Troy, Janet Bly Miami Conservancy District, Mary Johnson Jefferson Township (Montgomery County), Judy Dodge Montgomery County Commission, Arthur Haddad Troy Area Chamber of Commerce, Rap Hankins City of Trotwood, Jerry Hirt Bethel Township (Miami County), Matthew Joseph City of Dayton, Don Patterson City of Kettering, William Vogt City of Piqua and David Wesler Preble County.


Established in 1964, the MVRPC promotes collaboration among communities, stakeholders, and residents to advance regional priorities. MVRPC is a forum and resource where the Board of Directors identifies priorities, develops public policy and collaborative strategies to improve quality of life throughout the Miami Valley Region.


MVRPC performs various regional planning activities, including air quality, water quality, transportation, land use, research and GIS. As the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), MVRPC is responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties and parts of northern Warren County. MVRPC’s areawide water quality planning designation encompasses five counties - Darke, Preble plus the three MPO counties.
