BEAVERCREEK — City of Beavercreek announced it has canceled its July 4 celebration at Rotary Park due to financial constraints.

The cancellation is to offset a projected budget shortfall in 2015. The reductions are due in large part to the state reductions in the recent past and projected in the future. The city is eliminating public funding of the 4th of July fireworks show and parade in an effort to manage the City’s resources in a fiscally responsible manner.

In recent years, the city has reduced its expenditures on the events to keep it going. Last year the city spent approximately $22,500 on the event, which included the cost of fireworks, staffing and logistical support for road closures to ensure a safe community event.

Anyone wishing to help sponsor the 2015 4th of July event should contact the City Manager’s office.
