XENIA — A pair of Xenia High School students have been chosen to represent American Legion Post 95 at the American Legion Buckeye Boys State.

The students selected were Reed Ellison and Austin Newell.

American Legion Buckeye Boys State, held June 8-15 on the campus of Bowling Green State University, is an eight-day intensive education program that takes the students and immerses them in Ohio government. The participants in the program become a part of the operation of a local, county or state government.

During this program, the participants are exposed to the rights, privileges, duties and responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with a city, county and state government operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, a band, and recreation.

High school juniors are selected by local American Legion posts.
