FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Development Corporation is ready to assist new and experienced business owners by providing a monthly informational small business training series throughout 2014.The first will be “Business Financials” on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Each of the educational seminars is free of charge and will be held at the Fairborn Government Center, 44 W. Hebble Ave., in the Fire Training Room. All seminars will begin 8 a.m. and end at approximately at 9:30 a.m.
The City of Fairborn partnered with a number of organizations to create this series designed to aid small businesses in their pursuit of success. These organizations include the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Administration (SBA), the U.S. Department of Commerce, County Corp Development, the Small Business Development Center at Wright State University (SBDC), and the International Trade Assistance Center (ITAC).
Economic Development Director Chris Wimsatt believes these seminars will enhance the small businesses within the community and help market to those businesses located outside the city as well as prospective business owners looking to start a new operation.
“Small businesses are the backbone of the business community and they face a myriad of challenges,” Wimsatt said. “As a former small business owner myself I know it can be very difficult in this competitive environment. We are simply trying to leverage regional resources to help those business owners become more successful so that they can grow within the City of Fairborn.”
