COLUMBUS – Want to see your corporate logo on a license plate on your work trucks? The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles has announced that you may be able to to do just that.
As of Jan. 1, the BMV will offer company logo plates for customers who have vehicles that qualify.
According to the information from the BMV, the company logo plates will be offered to customers who have “apportioned vehicles registered in Ohio. Apportioned vehicles are those vehicles which travel through differing jurisdictions, and are part of the International Registration Plan (IRP).”
Trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 26,000 pounds or more qualifies for IRP ranking. So do trucks with three or more axles, regardless of weight.
Customers of IRP can request an application for a Company Logo plate through the Ohio Commercial Online Registration System or by calling the Vehicle Information Services Operations Section / IRP unit at 614-752-2055.
To be part of the service, the Ohio carriers that have an IRP account in good standing.
The BMV has also announced Multi-Year/Permanent registration for IRP customers.
The BMV will issue multi-year or permanent registrations to those customers who have a commercial trailer or semi-trailer vehicle registered in Ohio.
According to the BMV, “Multi-Year (two to seven years) and Permanent (eight years) registrations will allow customers to purchase multi-year commercial trailer and semi-trailer registrations for up to seven consecutive years or pay the equivalent of eight years of registration fees to receive a permanent registration plate (for the life of the trailer, non-transferable).”
Those who purchase the permanent registrations for their trailers will receive a plate with the word “permanent” printed between the bolt holes and “No Exp” printed at the bottom right hand corner in the area where the yearly registration sticker would be placed.
