KETTERING — In their first Central Division match of the year Tuesday the Lady Bolts scored a 5-0 victory at Fairmont. With the victory Northmont improved to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in division play while Fairmont fell to 1-5 and 0-1.
At first singles Akilah Parker defeated Brooke Fornes in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. With the win Parker improved her record to 7-1.
Second singles saw Marissa Anderson improve her season record to 6-2 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Hannah Jones.
At third singles Kennedy Harden improved to 7-1 by defeating Samantha Turner in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
In first doubles play Hailey Weaver and Michelle Hibbard defeated Caroline Kinnison and Sara Sweeterman 7-6 [6-4], 6-2. With the win Weaver and Hibbard improved to 6-2 overall.
At second doubles Emily Molen and Amari McCain defeated Matti Cridge and Sarah Dunkel 6-4, 6-1. Molen and McCain also improved their season record to 6-2.
“We are playing with a lot of confidence right now, especially at singles,” said Northmont Coach Christine Hall. “I am proud of how both doubles teams competed tonight. Neither team was playing very well, but they still hustled and found a way to win. This was a great start to Greater Western Ohio Conference division play!”
Wednesday, August 27 the Lady Bolts host Fairborn, host Trotwood-Madison on Thursday, host Wayne on Tuesday, September 2 and then travel to Sidney on September 3.
