FAIRBORN — With three more victories in the past week the Northmont girls volleyball team improved to 5-0 for the season.
Saturday at Fairborn the Lady Bolts took a big lead in their first match game versus Oakwood before the Lumber Jills made a run and cut Northmont’s lead to four points. The Lady Bolts settled down and pulled out a 25-21 win. The second game of the match was not as close as Northmont posted a solid 25-15 victory.
Statistical leaders against Oakwood included Sasha Sampson with 6 kills, Ryanne Stoffel with 10 assists and 10 digs, while Eva Stebel had 11 digs.
In their second match of the day the Lady Bolts had to work hard to defeat Fairborn by scores of 25-19 and 25-21.
Leading Northmont were Alex Baker with 10 assists, Erin Brown with 12 digs, Eva Stebel with 8 digs and Ryanne Stoffel also with 8 digs.
“We are starting off strong this season with a great effort from all the girls,” said Coach Amy Robinson. “It is still early and there is a lot we need to keep working on, but I’m happy with the start. We have some tough games coming up and I’m excited to see where we go from here.”
Last Thursday the Lady Bolts scored a victory at West Carrollton by scores of 25-6, 25-16, 25-21.
This week the Lady Bolts will play at Troy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26 then host Springboro on Thursday, August 28 at 6 p.m.
