YELLOW SPRINGS — Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Yellow Springs will host a program “Forgotten Mothers: Women Behind Bars” 10 a.m. Sunday, May 11. This presentation will focus on the fastest growing population in today’s prisons-women. Over 75 percent of incarcerated women are mothers. The personal factors that challenge women imprisoned in the US and the Middle East will be discussed.
The speaker, Dr. Jo Wilson, is Professor of Community Health and Director of the Substance Abuse Resources and Disability Issues (SARDI) Program in the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. Topics of her currently funded research projects include substance abuse treatment for special populations, ex-offender reentry, integrated mental health treatment, telemental health services, and gambling prevention. All are welcome to attend. Religious education classes are available for youth in preschool to sixth grade, beginning at 10 a.m.
