Fifteen youth competed in front of their parents and grandparents in the Greene County Fish and Game Youth Rifle and BB-Gun match held Saturday, June 28.
Carson Campbell was crowned the BB-Gun champion for the 8-years old and under competition.
The eight and under rifle winner was Derrian Funkhouser. Katie Drake and Conner Robertson took second and third respectively.
The middle age group (nine through 11) top three were made up of third place finisher Caden Robertson, Dani Price in second and Jodee Austin taking the win. Austin shot the highest score of the match, hitting a 99 out of a possible 100.
Angelica Heggem won the competition for the oldest group with the second highest score at 96. Amber Kurtz finished in second and Christi Price took third.
Other participants in Saturday’s match included Lilly Vanover, Jon Byrd, Erik Goldsboro, Adlyn Couch, and Nevaeh Knight.
Youth Chairman Larry Rowland said he was happy with the number of female participants.
“Target shooting has soared in popularity in all age groups of lady shooters. Our club hopes to promote even more participation in the shooting sports by the ladies and youth. This will ensure the future of these sports,” he said.
