XENIA — Local businesses, individuals and trail enthusiasts attended the recent Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Trails to Sales: Capturing Cyclist Business” luncheon seminar at Xenia Station, 150 S. Miami Ave.

The three-member panel at the seminar included Greene County Parks & Trails (GCP&T) Director Chrisbell Bednar, City of Xenia Planner Brian Forschner and GCP&T Trail Sentinel Steve Morris. Dennis Lewis of Friends of Xenia Station (FOXS) provided the welcome.

“The seminar was part of our monthly series of professional development luncheons aimed at the Xenia — and beyond — business community,” said Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce (XACC) Director Alan Liming. “As a former downtown Xenia business owner, I know how vital the paved trail system through Xenia is and can be to local businesses. We, as business owners, need to reach out and encourage cyclists to stop at our stores or restaurants.”

Liming says the greater-Xenia community is poised to benefit from the paved, multi-use trails that dominate the Greene County landscape.

“Xenia and the surrounding areas have a wonderful opportunity to welcome traveling and local cyclists as they travel through our town.” Liming said.

A GCP&T bike raffle was awarded to Mary Tackett of Kickstand Lodging in Spring Valley as part of a long-term lease agreement; the bike rack will be placed outside of her ice cream parlor/bed-and-breakfast establishment.

“The Greene County system of paved, multi-use trails is part of the nation’s largest network of paved, off-street trails,” added Bednar. “Local communities are truly recognizing the value of the trail system for both quality of life and the economic health of their businesses. By working together, the trail system can do so much for both our individual residents and their communities.”

The Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce hosts monthly luncheon seminars on a variety of topics related to the business community. For more information about upcoming seminars, call 937-372-3591 or visit www.xacc.com.
