BELLBROOK — DP&L presented two sessions of “Think Hot, Stay Safe” to Bellbrook Middle School’s seventh graders on Feb. 27 to Cathy St. Pierre’s science students followed by another for Mr. Kasch and Miss Herick’s science students.
The DPL demonstration team prefers to have smaller group sizes so students can be close and see and experience the impact of their demonstrations. This demonstration highlights the dangers of hot wires and educating the students how to stay safe around electricity.
Students learned to never touch a fallen power line and keep children and pets far away from a fallen line. The DP&L demonstration team discussed electric safety and provided demonstrations of the power of electricity including the electric arc flash and cooking the hot dog! Students enjoyed this presentation and each left with interesting facts and valuable safety lessons.
One student said, “I learned how to get out of a car if there are fallen wires.”
Another said, “It was cool to see the hot dog cook from just a regular wire in our house.”
