Lead poisoning, bed bugs informational meeting

FAIRBORN —The City of Fairborn and Greene County Public Health are teaming up to host a meeting aimed to inform citizens of Fairborn about how to identify and remediate lead poisoning and bed bugs as well as rules and regulations related to these topics. It takes place 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at the City of Fairborn Government Center, 44 W. Hebble Ave.

T-Shirt Contest

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Fourth of July Festival Committee is conducting a contest to select a design submission that will be featured on the front of this year’s Fourth of July commemorative t-shirt. The contest is limited to only Fairborn residents and should be patriotic in nature. Submitted designs must be rendered in colored marker or ink. Deadline to enter the contest is April 30. Submissions should be dropped off or sent to Terri Lynn Art Studio and Gallery, 415 W. Main St.

PERI meeting

XENIA — The Greene County Chapter of the Public Employee Incorporated will meat at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27 in the Multipurpose Room at the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center, 130 E. Church Street. Peggy Coggins with the Miami Valley Hospice will be our guest speaker.

Senior center homemakers

FAIRBORN – The Fairborn Senior Center is accepting applications for part-time homemakers. Hours will vary. Applicants must pass a background check and drug screen, and they must also have a valid driver’s license and car insurance. Apply at 325 N. Third St.

Library board meeting

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Board of Trustees of the Greene County Public Library system will hold its next regular meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Yellow Springs Community Library, 415 Xenia Ave. The Library Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month, except during the month of August when there is no meeting.

Prevention session

YELLOW SPRINGS — Trainers from PreventionFIRST! will provide a Prevention 101/Parenting for Prevention workshop from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, April 15. The training session will be held at the Greene County Educational Service Center, 360 E. Enon Road, Yellow Springs. PreventionFIRST! is an organization focused on substance abuse prevention and the development of community-based coalitions. Supervisor meeting

XENIA — The Greene Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors hold their monthly board meetings on the third Thursday of each month at the District’s office, 1363 Burnett Drive. The meetings are open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Any change in meeting location or time will be posted on the district’s web page or in the newspaper. Minimalists meet

YELLOW SPRINGS — Dayton Minimalists meet 7 p.m. every third Thursday of the month at the John Bryan Center, Yellow Springs.
