Wolfe celebrates 80 birthday

FAIRBORN — Linda Wolfe Engle of Fairborn, Jim Wolfe of Bucks County, Penn. and John P. Wolfe of Huntington Beach, Calif. recently hosted an 80 birthday celebration for their father, John A. Wolfe of Fairborn, at the Stonehill Village Community Center in Xenia.

In addition to Fairborn friends, Mary Help of Christian Parishioners and Fairborn Knights and family members, out of town attendees included a number from Pennsylvania, California, Kentucky, Alabama, New Jersey and the Dayton/Cincinatti area.

The 145 attendees were treated to a variety of foods and refreshments during the six-hour event. Music was provided by Armin M. Sayson of Fairborn. During the celebration, Jim Wolfe read an Ohio senate certificate honoring Wolfe on his birthday and congratulating him for his community accomplishments.

The certificate was signed by Senator Keith Faber, President of the Ohio Senate and Senator Chris Widener, President Pro Tempore. Wolfe also read a certificate from the Greene County Board of Commissioners, citing his years of civilian service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, community involvement with the Knights of Columbus as well as numerous other contributions and achievements made to Greene County. The certificate was signed by President Tom Koogler, Vice President Alan Anderson and Robert J. Glaser.

Ohio K of C Past State Deputy Baci Carpico spoke of his association with Wolfe for more than 30 years and their work together on the K of C Ohio State Council Staff, and Wolfe’s performance as State Public Relations Director during Carpico’s two years as State Deputy and their continued friendship.

Wolfe has resided in Fairborn since June 1966 except for three years. He received the Department of the Air Force Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award on Dec. 20, 1996 from Lieutenant General Kenneth E. Eickmann, commander. He retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in January 1997 as a GM-14 with 36-years of Federal Service.
