City seeking banner designs

FAIRBORN — Calling all Wright State University students: The City of Fairborn is seeking banner designs to be displayed along the streetlights lining Col. Glenn Highway and other areas of the city.

The City and the WSU Art Department have partnered to present a unique opportunity to university students with a passion for art or graphic design and is inviting proposals for banner art.

“Tremendous collaborations have taken place throughout the years between the city and the university, and this contest is another shining example of working together to better our community,” said Fairborn Assistant City Manager Pete Bales. “The city is working hard to reinvent itself and shed some old stereotypes that no longer truly represent Fairborn. We have come up with a new, fresh brand that symbolizes our history while looking forward to the future.”

“It is our hope that the banner designs will capture the best traits of both the city and the university highlighting both brands in a complementary fashion,” Bales added.

Submissions are due by Friday, June 30. Artwork must be submitted in a hi-resolution digital format that can be reproduced on a vinyl banner measuring 71 inches by 24 inches. Monetary prizes will be awarded for the designs selected for display: $750 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. Multiple submissions will be considered and multiple designs may be chosen by the selection committee.

Interested participants should contact Bales to obtain complete submission details and guidelines at [email protected] or call 937-754-3155.
