FAIRBORN — The City of Fairborn Street Division is performing road reconstruction, which involves removing pavers and replacing with asphalt, on Commerce Center Boulevard near the Circle K and Dayton-Yellow Springs Road.

This work is scheduled to last through Friday, Sept. 23.

North bound traffic on Commerce Center is being diverted to Dayton-Yellow Springs Road via Trebein Road Tuesday, Sept. 20 and possibly Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Later on Wednesday through Friday, road work will begin on the opposite side altering south bound traffic to Trebein Road.

During the colder months, pavers allow water to get in between them and when frozen, which causes the bricks to buckle. Pressure is then applied to the base of the road and the pavers begin to sink, causing a bumpy ride to the roadway. Pavers must be removed and replaced manually, making this both cost and labor intensive. By replacing pavers with asphalt, driving conditions become much smoother and there is a cost savings in maintenance.

The Fairborn Street Division is working in conjunction with the Engineering Division on this project. Any questions can be responded to by calling 937-754-3098.

Road work expected to take place until Friday, Sept. 23
