XENIA – Local cyclists are invited to join the Greene County Parks & Trails (GCP&T) Trail Sentinels for a special night ride to kick off the 2015 Greene Trails Cycling Classic, (GTCC) July 16-19.

Participants should meet at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Recreation Center, 210 Fairground Road, where trail sentinels will lead the group from Xenia to Jamestown on the Xenia-Jamestown Connector.

The four-day GTCC cycling event raises vital funds to maintain the 62 miles of paved trails managed by GCP&T and is part of the nation’s largest paved trails network. Participants sign up for one to four days to experience a different trail each day.

Participants must be over the age of 18, wear a helmet and have lights. Rides will be cancelled in case of a thunderstorm. Easily recognized by their Greene County Parks & Trails uniform shirt and jacket, trail sentinels are trained by completing a CPR certification class and a skilled performance procedure.

Greene County is home to five paved trails with four trails converging at Xenia Station. For more information about the Greene County Parks & Trails call 937-562-6440 or email [email protected].
