Local libraries announce April programs

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Yellow Springs Community Libraries will hold a variety of programs for the month of April. Yellow Springs Community Library is located at 415 Xenia Ave. To register for programs call 937-352-4003. The following library programs are planned:

Through Hiking the Appalachian Trail with Craig Conrad for adults, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 2. Yellow Springs resident, Craig Conrad, tells stories about, shows pictures from the Appalachian Trail.

Baby Song & Rhyme Time, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 12, 19, 26.

Paws to Read, 3-4 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Read to, and visit with, four-legged friends and their people.

Preschool Story Time, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, April 7, 14, 21, 28.

British India: Corporate Takeover and Colonization for adults, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 8. Srikumaran Melethil, Ph.D., J.D., discusses how the business corporation East India Company (EIC) came to trade with India around 1600 and then became its ruler by the 1850s.

Squishy Circuits for ages 7-14, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 11. Play with play-dough and circuits. Play with LED lights and watch them light up using play dough.

Painted Gourd Birdhouse for adults, 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12. Join us to create a beautiful painted gourd birdhouse. Registration required.

Anime Club for ages 12-18, 4-5 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Watch anime, dress up, and eat Japanese treats.

Mystery Book Club for adults, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Join us at the library for our monthly mystery book club.

Lego In the Library, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 18. Build something creative with Lego or Duplo blocks. Snacks provided.

Tweens Read — When You Reach Me for grades 4-6, 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. Tweens Read the 2010 Newberry Award winner When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead.

Poetry Reading with Robert Paschell for adults, 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19. Hear Robert read his poetry. Participate in sharing your personal poetry as well.

Young Adult Writing Club for ages 12-18, 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20. Enjoy writing poetry, fan-fiction, or just about life. Come and have a quiet place to write.

Snap Circuits for ages 7-14, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 25. Have fun putting snap circuits together.

Belly Dancing for Fun and Fitness for ages 12 and up, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26. Join Phaedra to shimmy off those winter gloomies. Learn a variety of fun moves. You’ll also learn how to dance with a veil.
