Devotional: Not overcome

“‘I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you,’ declared the Lord.” (Jeremiah 15:20)

God watches out for His own. Jeremiah had a very difficult mission and one that he even had questions about. In seeking the Lord’s confirmation he is told that his opposition will not prevail against him. It is not that he will not be attacked but that he will be able to resist every argument and action. He will be able to stand with God on the issue at hand and not compromise. He will do the Lord’s will by the Lord’s presence in his life. He would prove to be a true prophet of the Lord.

We have also experienced God’s protection from compromise. He has given us the ability to stand in His Truth and even though many rise up to destroy us He has not allowed our spirit to be overcome. He has fortified, rescued and saved us. We do not find His calling to be easy. We find it sad many times as we see others forsaking His Word.

Yet, we are sure our sadness is nothing like the sadness He feels. But His will must be carried out. There can be no watering down of His Word and will. God will be God and we must be available for however He wishes to use us.

Heavenly Father, You have called us to be and do things that have surprised us throughout our lifetime. How You are able to use us, amazes us. We have so many weaknesses and yet You have made us strong in Your Word. You know our heart and how our desire is to serve You. Thank You for Your marvelous protection.

Thank You for Your encouragement. Bless us with Your presence always and draw to us those who need to know and serve You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
