WHITING, N.J. — Beavercreek racewalk athlete Susan Randall finished third March 30 at the USA Track and Field world cup trials. By placing third, Randall will be on the USA Track and Field team at the Racewalk World Cup, which will be held May 3-4 in Taichang, China. Randall was born and raised in China before immigrating in 2001 to the Dayton Area.
“I am thrilled to be able to represent my new country in my original country,” Randall said at the awards ceremony.
Randall, a member of the PowerBar team Elite and the Miami Valley Track Club, walked the 20-kilometer distance in 1:43:17. While not her fastest race ever, she was happy with it due to the cold and heavy rains that were experienced during the competition. This will be her fourth international team event, but her first World Cup event. She previously represented the USA at the Pan American Cup events, in El Salvador (2009), Columbia (2011) and Guatemala (2013). She earned a Bronze Team medal in the El Salvador event.
