DAYTON — Eleven local ladies were presented the Girl Scouts of America’s Gold Award on Sunday, March 9, during a ceremony at the University of Dayton.
They were among 44 Girl Scouts from the Cincinnati, Dayton, Lima and Toledo areas who received the highest achievement in Girl Scouting this year.
The event, hosted by the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, featured keynote speaker Col. Cassie Barlow, 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Barlow spoke about the importance of seizing opportunities and taking on new challenges in life.
State Senator Chris Widener (R-Springfield) recognized six recipients from his district.
“These young leaders have already proven themselves capable of making positive changes in their communities and I encourage each of them to use the skills acquired during their Girl Scouting experience to address the challenges facing future generations of Ohioans,” said Widener.
