Indians fall to Southeastern

CEDARVILLE — Ellie Sizer scored 11 of her team-high 12 points in the second half, and hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds as well, but the host Cedarville Indians girls basketball team fell to South Charleston Southeastern, 41-28, Thursday night at Cedarville High.

Cedarville (7-11 overall and 4-7 in the Ohio Heritage Conference) was held to four points in the first half.

Maddy McKee led Southeastern (12-3, 6-1 OHC) with 14 points, and teammate Lexie Perry was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, finishing with 13 points, in the Trojans win.


FAIRBORN 59, MIAMISBURG 44: Kayla Patterson led the Skyhawks with a game-high 19-point performance in Wednesday’s Greater Western Ohio Conference, North Division win. Krissy Bennett was the other Fairborn player to score in double figures with 13. Rylie Parkhurst led Miamisburg with 14 points scored.

NEW CARLISLE TECUMSEH 67, GREENON 38: Lianne Musquelier and Jenn Miller scored 10 points each, and Knights teammates Taylor Burson and Brittany Kozak scored six apiece, but seven combined points for the team in the second and third quarters of Wednesday’s home game led to their undoing. Tecumseh outscored Greenon 38-7 over that same span.

ALTER 48, CARROLL 36: The two Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North Division foes battled to a close 33-30 margin in Alter’s favor through three quarters of play. Then the Knights pulled away by outscoring Carroll 15-6 in the final quarter. No individual statistics were provided for this game.

GREENEVIEW 57, SPRINGFIELD NORTHWESTERN 41: Ashton Lovely scored a game-high 25 points and dealt out four assists to lead Greeneview to Monday’s win over Northwestern. Sophie Sonneman had a double-double performance with 12 points scored and 14 rebounds, Kristen Combs scored seven points, Sydnie Sonneman scored seven points and had four steals and Natasha Siebenaler had five steals in the win. The Rams will next play Thursday at Springfield Northeastern.


GREENEVIEW 50, SPRINGFIELD CATHOLIC CENTRAL 45: After trailing 28-14 at halftime, the visiting Rams limited Catholic Central to two points in the third quarter, and just 17 for the entire second half, to claim the win. Alec Nix scored 14 points in the win, while teammate Ethan Bradds finished with 12.

TIPP CITY TIPPECANOE 86, GREENON 51: Host Tippecanoe rolled up a 44-27 lead at the break, and then held on. Tyler Restau scored a team-high 17 points for the Knights, while teammate Tim Blase added 16. Tippecanoe’s Ben Stucke led all scorers with 28 points, Zack Blair scored 14, Michael Landwehr scored 12 and Sean Ford tossed in 10 in the win.

Xenia-Shawnee game rescheduled

XENIA — The makeup date for the Xenia vs. Springfield Shawnee boys basketball game has been set for Saturday Feb. 8 at Xenia High, school officials said. The freshman game is set for a 4:30 p.m. start, followed by the junior varsity at 6 p.m. and the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.


BELLEFONTAINE BENJAMIN LOGAN 2,609, GREENON 2,129: Greenon drops to 2-15 overall, 1-13 in the Central Buckeye Conference’s Mad River Division, with Wednesday’s loss. Ben Logan, meanwhile, stays in second place in the Mad River with a 14-3 overall mark, 12-3 in the division. No individual scores were reported.
