BEAVERCREEK — Former Greene County prosecutor William F. Schenck will have to appear in Fairborn Municipal Court Friday morning, facing a charge of OVI.
Schenck, 67, was issued a citation for OVI at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, on Mallard Lane in Beavercreek after he was pulled over for an alleged turn signal violation.
According to the report from the Beavercreek Police Department, Schenck had to balance himself with his hand after exiting his vehicle. The report stated Schenck was unsteady on his feet.
The report also stated that Schenck had apparently urinated in his pants and the front of his pants and the seat of his vehicle were soaked. He also had a strong odor of alcohol, according to the officer.
When asked how much alcohol he had consumed, Schenck reportedly said two “unknown” drinks. The officer reported that Schenck’s speech was slurred and he did not know why he had turned into the Mallard Landing apartment complex as he was heading to Kemp Road.
The officer asked Schenck to perform sobriety tests, which he could not complete.
Schenck was taken into custody at that time.
Again, officers asked how much alcohol he had consumed and Schenck reportedly answered “too much.” Schenck was transported to BPD where he refused to submit to the breath test. He reportedly commented “Off the recor, I would probably test a .17 or .18.”
Schenck was picked up from the Beavercreek Police Department by a Brenda Zimmerman.
After he was processed, he was issued the OVI citation along with a citation for the turn signal violation.
Schenck is a current senior advisor for Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.
Lisa Peterson Hackley, communications director for DeWine, said Schenck reported the incident to the AG’s director of human resources Dec. 2.
“The Attorney General considers OVI a very serious matter,” Hackley said. “As with any charge, the justice system will now determine the outcome of this matter.”
Schenck is scheduled to appear in Fairborn Municipal Court 8 a.m. Dec. 6.
