FairbornPublic Meeting NoticeDate of Publication: July 24 & July31, 2014The City of Fairborn intends to apply to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program. In order to prepare for such funding allocations, a Consolidated Plan must be completed by the City to forecast what projects could be undertaken with such funds in the next 5 years. The document that is submitted to HUD that serves as the comprehensive housing affordability strategy, community development plan, and submissions for funding under any of the Community Planning and Development formula grant programs. The development of this plan is for the jurisdiction, which builds on a participatory process among citizens, organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders; have a strategy to be followed in carrying out HUD programs; and a management tool for assessing performance and tracking results.To accommodate specific program requirements, the first of two public meetings will be held on August 4, 2014, 6:00 p.m. in the Fire Training Room, 44 W. Hebble Avenue, Fairborn, Ohio 45324. The second purpose of this meeting is to provide citizens with pertinent information about the CDBG program including an explanation of eligible activities and program requirements for the FY15 Action Plan submission. The City is eligible for approximately $253,000. This program can fund a broad range of activities including: economic development projects, street, water supply, drainage and sanitary sewer improvements, park acquisition and improvements; demolition of unsafe structures, rehabilitations of housing and neighborhood facilities. All activities must be designed to primarily benefit low and moderate income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slum and blight, or meet an urgent need of the community. The second public meeting will be held October 20, 2014 where the Consolidated Plan and FY15 Action Plan will be finalized for approval and submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
